New Zealand produces extraordinary singer-songwriters and we’re showcasing three of the best in this evening of homegrown kiwi songwriting perfection.
Julia Deans has a talent that soars, with a voice ranging from honey-sweet to dark-as-shadows, she has captivated audiences throughout her career. It’s her combination of sharp lyrics and a conscious pop sound in conjunction with her superior vocal talent, which sets Julia apart. In concert she is as warm as she is honest, proving herself a larrikin storyteller as well as a mesmerising performer.
Anna Coddington is known for her enchanting live performances, a voice which “flows perfectly from soft to grunty”, and for her songwriting prowess which has seen her garner numerous accolades. She is a regular in the Fly My Pretties collaboration, has performed Aotearoa’s top music and arts festivals, and has sung her way around the country on numerous tours over the years.
Anthonie Tonnon has a reputation as a lyricist and performer that has recently seen him open for the likes of Paul Kelly, Okkervil River, and Yumi Zouma, and receive a top five nomination for the APRA Silver Scroll for the song, "Water Underground." His new album, Successor has spent time in both US CMJ Radio 200 charts and Top 20 New Zealand albums chart, and has seen him tour across the USA and Australia in recent months, playing CMJ Festival in New York and Big Sound Festival in Australia.
Join these three friends for a journey of song, laughter, and storytelling that will warm your heart, bring a smile to your lips, and move you deeply.
