Take four good looking, hip swaying, suave Maori guys crooning a mix of modern day & classic songs in Te Reo and English and you get: The Modern Maori Quartet (MMQ). James Tito, Matariki Whatarau, Maaka Pohatu and Francis Kora are a Māori foursome with a fresh take on classic Māori showbands.
The creative love child of Flight of the Conchords, Prince Tui Teka, The Maori Volcanics & The Quin Tikis, the MMQ are entertaining and compelling showmen who will have you melting like golden syrup on a piece of fresh hot fried bread.
They stole the show in Everything is Ka Pai at the Auckland Arts Festival in 2013, then went on to present their first full-length show Nga Bro E Wha. Delve into our countries’ past and present with this group of insanely talented Maori performers. Weaving a rich tapestry that draws from local music and stories, as well as integrating international hits throughout the ages.
