Take four good looking, hip swaying, suave Maori guys crooning a mix of modern day & classic songs in Te Reo and English and you get: The Modern Maori Quartet (MMQ). James Tito, Matariki Whatarau, Maaka Pohatu and Francis Kora are a Māori foursome with a fresh take on classic Māori showbands.
Multi-instrumentalist Nathan Haines is usually known for his trademark tenor and soprano sax work, but for this specially curated performance he takes centre-stage on the vocal mic with the backing of an 8 piece Little Big Band. Recently back from London, where he has been living since 1995, Nathan has won numerous awards in New Zealand and has head-lined several times at London’s legendary Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club.
